In loving memory of Jimmy Luthmann of Oscoda, MI, who passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Born on January 5, 1950, in the charming city of Copenhagen, Denmark, Jimmy embodied a spirit of adventure and dedication throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Evy Linnea Andesson and Jack Robert Luthmann, and his first wife, Margie, with whom he shared many wonderful years.
Jimmy’s journey was marked by a deep love for his family and an unwavering commitment to his country and community. He married his first love, Margie and they enjoyed a beautiful life together until her passing in 2013. In 2018, Jimmy found love again with Gina, and they shared eight blissful years together, forming a loving family with her daughters, Vina Bouchard and Veah Lim, and his nephew, Troy.
A proud graduate of Dearborn High School, Jimmy pursued higher education for two years before answering the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force in 1968. As a flight mechanic, he dedicated 22 years to his military career, earning numerous awards and commendations for his exceptional service. He was respected and admired by his peers and leaders alike.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1991, Jimmy embarked on a new journey as a marketing manager at Northland Area Federal Credit Union, where his leadership skills shone brightly. In 2015, he was appointed to the board of directors, a position he held with distinction, until his resignation in January 2026.
Jimmy’s commitment to his community was evident through his active involvement in various organizations. He served as a board member for the Oscoda Au Sable Chamber of Commerce for over 15 years and proudly held the position of post adjutant and color guard captain for VFW Post 3735 for more than two decades. He was a dedicated member of the Legion Riders Chapter 274 American Legion. He also played a pivotal role in founding the Wurtsmith Air Museum in Oscoda.
In his leisure time, Jimmy found joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer, and he found peace in the precision of target shooting. He also had a passion for motorbike riding.
Jimmy’s legacy of love, service, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jimmy’s memory to the Wurtsmith Air Museum, which he co- founded, and was very close to his heart.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to friends and family who have stood by them during this difficult time, offering support, comfort and love. Jimmy’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, as a man of integrity, warmth and unwavering courage.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 10 AM beginning with Funeral Mass at Trinity Lutheran Church , 5625 US 23 Oscoda, followed by Military Honors Ceremony at the Oscoda Veterans Park, 4000 N. Skeel Ave. Oscoda, where he will be interred. Funeral Luncheon will follow at Sacred Heart Family Center, 5300 N US Hwy 23 Oscoda, MI.
