Bob Dew, 86, of Houghton Lake

Robert “Bob” A. Dew, age 86, of Houghton Lake passed away on Wednesday June 29, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on July 11, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Henry and Grace (Breuhan) Dew. He served in the US Navy during the late 1950s as a Corpsman stationed in Bremerton, WA. Bob married Elizabeth A. Schaff on May 9, 1959 in Detroit. Bob was a self-professed Phd (Professional Hearse Driver) for A.H. Peters Funeral Home for almost 30 years before retiring and moving to Houghton Lake. Bob was an extremely gifted man. He was an artist in oil painting, sketching, drawing, leather work, and wood burning. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Bob will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Dew; daughter Kimberly and her husband Craig Pickenpaugh; their daughter Jessica and her husband Jeremiah Quinlan, and their children – Riley, Dylan, Avery and Aryn – and their son Andrew Pickenpaugh and his children – Presley, Harper and Maverick.  Daughter Beth and her husband Richard Boza; their sons Joseph and Bradley, and Brad’s daughter Olivia.  Daughter Dianna and her husband Jeff Smith; their sons Jordon and Devin. And daughter Kelly and her husband Randy Franks; their son Corey and his wife Amanda Franks with their children – Alexis and Brayden – and son JT Franks. Bob is also survived by sister Marion Mathieson and twin sister Shirley Gensley; sister-in-law Marie Noffert and family, several nieces, nephews and all his bonus grandchildren (and you know who you are). He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Maria Boza, brother Richard Dew, brother-in-laws Erich Gensley and John Mathieson, and sister-in-law June Dew.

Funeral Services for Bob will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Saturday July 2, 2022 from Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel with Rev. Norman Dew officiating. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 2, 2022 from 12:00 pm until the time of the service.
