Walter Valentine Corteg Jr., age 89, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at his home in West Branch, MI surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 21, 1932 in Boston, MA to Walter and Helen (Cash) Corteg Sr.
He lived in West Branch since February 2015, formerly of Harrisville and Shelby Township. On March 1, 2021 he married Janet Groulx in West Branch.
Walter served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 during the Korean War. He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, and driving his Camaro.
Walter is survived by his wife, Janet Groulx-Corteg; sons, Walter Stephen Corteg and Kevin Charles Corteg; granddaughter, Carolee Corteg; and cousin, Robert (Opal) Gorczyca.
He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Marlene Hertz Corteg; son, Michael Corteg; daughter, Cathy Corteg; sister, Anita Fahy; father, Walter Sr.; mother, Helen Corteg and stepmother, Ilene Corteg.
Visitation will begin at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m.
