Ted Haynes, 92, of Sterling

Louie Emmons “Ted” Haynes of Sterling, MI,  passed away at age 92 on April 23, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. 

He was  born on May 29, 1929, in Susquehanna County, PA to William and Nettie Haynes. 

Louie worked as a lineman for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Union 1249 for 39 years, retiring in 1989.  He told stories of taking naps 30+ flights up while working in New York. 

He met Betty St. Claire in 2003 and they were married in 2005 in Sherrill, NY.  They spent 19 years together. 

Louie enjoyed fishing, hunting with his beagles, gardening and rebuilding things. He had a comedic’s heart and loved to weave a good yarn for whoever was ready to receive his story.  He had a good soft heart and truly loved with all of himself and he will be deeply missed by all those he touched with his gentle warm tenderness. 

He is survived by his lovely wife Betty; children, Ann (Warren)  Durant, Rheta (Gene) Mattison, Violet (Lee) Joyce, Laura Isett;  step children, Jessica (Brett) Bergeron, Joel (Kelly) Herbert, Bobby (Tara) Herbert, Petals “Bubbles” Sandcastle; 26 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years; daughter; Penny Martin; son, Teddy Haynes; step daughter, Sheila Crisp; grandsons, Mike Wilson, Ronny Morgan; and 11 brothers and sisters;
