Ralph “Bruce” Winchell, Age 78, of Prescott, MI, formerly of Bridgeport, MI passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
He was born on January 22, 1944 in Flint, MI to the late Bruce R. and Betty Jane (Hanes) Winchell.
Bruce married Carol Jean Watts in 1994. He served in the US Army for 4 years where he was part of the 113 Army Band playing the Clarinet. He also served in the Utah and Colorado National Guard for a total of 8 yrs of service. He is a recipient of the National Defense Service Good Conduct Medal.
After his service, he operated his computer service business with his life long friend John Greenough for many yrs. Bruce N-8-U-T enjoyed talking on his ham radio every morning and thru out the day to his friends. He was a mentor to new and old hams alike and shared his knowledge when asked.
He was a member of the Ogemaw Arenac Amateur Radio Society in West Branch, MI. Bruce also loved his Jack Russell Sport. It brought joy to him and Carol. Bruce touched many lives and even though he was gruff at times he had a heart that was BIG like his voice!
He is survived by his children, Lisa Marie Draper of Colorado Springs, CO and David J. Winchell of St. George, UT. John Winchell (Ashley Matheson) of Millington, MI. Grand Children Paul Draper, Marie McCarl ,Jason Draper, Jessie Draper, Scott Draper, John Winchell, Cameron Winchell and 4 Great-Grand Children.
He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Jean in November 2020.
