Bill Olar, 80, of National City (formerly of Turner)

William “Bill” Donald Olar, Age 80, of National City, Michigan, formerly of Turner, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City with his loving family by his side. 

Bill was born on May 25, 1941 at the family home in Whitney Township, Michigan to William and Aurelia (Joan) Olar. 

After completing the Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice Program at Penn State, he worked as a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter for the Sprinkler Fitter Local 669 until he retired in 1993.

He was a member of the Arenac County Natural Resources Committee and Arenac County Walleye Club. Bill truly loved the outdoors especially spending time hunting and fishing. He will be forever loved and cherished by everyone who knew him.

Bill is survived by his 2 sons, Keith (Renee) Olar of National City and Curt (Dana) Olar of Pinconning; 1 sister, Vivian (Fred) Schutte; grandchildren, Samuel, Sadie, and Emmeline Olar, Kami (Connor) Munley, Lauren (Derek) Rezler, Norman Olar, and Noah Olar; 2 great grandchildren, Tillie Rezler, and Kinsley Munley; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Lena Ruja, Mabel Thornton, and Betty Fitzgerald; brothers, Howard Olari, Wesley and Norman Olar; stepfather, Norm Stoal.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and Bill’s family will welcome friends at the Buresh Funeral Home in Twining on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM. 

The Riverside Mennonite Church of AuGres will be hosting a tribute luncheon for all of Bill’s family and friends immediately following the memorial service.
