Nellie Joan Gawlik, age 81 of Whittemore, passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2022 at her home in Whittemore, Michigan.
Joan was born on June 2, 1940 in Whittemore, to the late Joseph and Nellie (Hensey) Nichols. Joan married the love of her life, Frank Gawlik, on September 2, 1961 and had over 60 years together.
Joan was a devoted wife and home maker where she loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, cooking and canning, gardening, bird watching, and made an amazing banana bread. She was a member of the County Line Wesleyan Church as well.
Joan is survived by her husband, Frank; children Sabrina (Michael) Hall, Terri Jo Gawlik, Renee (Robert) Streeter, Frank Daniel (Renea)Gawlik ; brother, Lloyd Nichols; sisters, Linda Mullennix, Brenda Carson, Arlene (Dan) Tremble; grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas, Christopher, Joshua, Brandon, Shayla, Jordan, Autumn, Nathaniel, Garrett, Cody, Kayla; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Aiden, Allison, Hunter, Destiny, Raygen, Gunner, Brianna, Kalyn, Colton, Grant, Landin, Adrian, Ryder, Autumn, Arthur, Aubrey; K-9 companion Tia. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Nellie; brothers Ronald Nichols and Norman Nichols Sr.; sister, Carol Snyder; grandchild Brian Taphouse.
Services will be held at the Buresh Funeral Home in Twining. . Visitation on Sunday January 23, 2pm – 6pm. Visitation Monday January 24, 11am. Funeral 1pm. Internment 2pm at the Cedar Valley Cemetery in Twining. Luncheon to follow at the Whittemore Fire Hall on M65.
