Allen Dean Babcock, age 64, of Alger, Michigan passed away Monday morning, January 17, 2022 under the loving care of his wife, children, and hospice at home.
Allen was born October 7, 1957 in Mio, Michigan to Walton Glenn and Dora Jean (Borden). He enlisted in the United States Air Force January 16, 1975 and honorable served until his discharge January 31, 1994. He served at many installations throughout his career and retired from RAF Menwith Hill. Allen then pursued a long time career as an Ogemaw County Corrections Officer. He was a member of St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church in Skidway Lake and American Legion Post 370 of Skidway Lake.
Allen is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Marie (Nistler) Babcock, whom he married November 26, 1988 in Wilstead, England; daughter, Stephanie Babcock of Bay City, Michigan; son, Grant Babcock of Panama City Beach, Florida; father, Walt Babcock of Rose City, Michigan; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Rose Nistler of Watkins, Minnesota; sister, Lynn Zettle; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Bruce Reiner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Pat Nistler, John and Pam Nistler, Laura and Michael Lincoln, James and Kay Nistler, Linda and Allan Siebens, Peter and Michelle Nistler, Rose and Denice Alexander, Roger Nistler; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Dora Jean Babcock; grandparents, Devere and Nina Borden and Avery and Rose Babcock.
Visitation for Allen will take place from 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 East Harrison Street, Prescott, Michigan. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. (in state 10:00 a.m.) Thursday, January 20, 2022 at St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church, 2811 Greenwood Road, Prescott, Michigan 48756. Father Lawrence Boks will officiate. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
