Leoda Murl Hall, age 95 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at The Home at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Fairview, Michigan on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
Leoda was born in Browder, Kentucky on October 9, 1926 to Phillip and Laura (Dukes) Ryan and the family moved to Dearborn, Michigan when she was 3. Leoda graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn with the Class of 1944. She worked for Sanders Candy Store and Bakery in Dearborn for many years, retiring as Candy Supervisor.
Leoda married Oliver Hall on May 2, 1953 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Dearborn, where she also served on the Deaconess Board and as a Greeter for several years. She and Oliver moved to Fairview in 1988 following Oliver’s retirement.
Leoda became an active member of the Comins Mennonite Church (now the Comins Community Church), the Nursing Home Auxiliary, the Comins Mennonite Church Women’s Missions, and the Red Hats Society. She began painting class at the age of 89 at the Comins Community Church. She was a talented artist who enjoyed sketching, cross stitching, painting, and crafts. She was known for her hand-made scrubbies she supplied for the Mennonite Relief Sale. Leoda will be remembered as a faithful and generous woman of prayer.
Surviving are her husband Oliver of Fairview, MI; her children: Laura (John) Hice of Flint, MI; Allan Hall (Katja Karner) of Novi, MI; and Bonnie Case of Westland, MI; her brother Ronald (Janet) Ryan; her grandchildren: Carrie, James, Kendall (Brandon), and Jason (Caitlin); her great-grandchildren: Emma, Ryan, Jacob, and Liam; her sister-in-law Dana Ryan; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Charles, and her siblings: Jewel (Rosemary) Ryan, Buel (Betty) Ryan, Veora (Bernard) Schultz, and Donald Ryan.
