James Russell Nellist, age 70, of Higgins Lake, died on Friday, January 7, 2022, in Traverse City, Michigan.
Jim was born April 29, 1951, in Grayling, Michigan, the son of Frank and Jane (Zettle) Nellist.
Jim will be remembered for enjoying folk festivals. He loved bluegrass music and enjoyed reading. Jim also enjoyed camping when he could.
Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his brothers: Ed (Diane) Nellist of Higgins Lake, and Bill Nellist of Higgins Lake; sister-in-law Cathy Nellist; niece Marcie (Matt) Nellist-Johnson; nephews: Jason (Shelly) Nellist, and Jon Nellist; great-nieces: Sarah Nellist, and Caroline Nellist; his best friend Jeremy Nichols of Higgins Lake; as well as many cousins, and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother John Nellist.
Jim’s family has chosen to remember him privately at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
