David L. LaBeau, Sr. “Cree Vicar Dave,” 79, of Sterling

Dave LaBeau, age 79, went home to be with Jesus our Lord on January 24, 2022 at his home.

He was born in a large square home in Fenmore, Michigan, that was built by his maternal great great grandfather, Henry Evans in 1850. The LaBeau family moved to Saginaw, Michigan when he was 8 years old. He is a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, GM-AUW Apprentice School, Delta College and Indiana Wesleyan University.

He married his High School sweetheart, Nancy LaBrake at Ames Methodist Church in 1961. They moved to Sterling in 1977.

Dave worked with the Boy Scouts, coached flag football and knothole baseball in Saginaw. He was a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, missionary to the American Indians, Journeyman Millwright at General Motors, Industrial Arts teacher, wood worker and hunting/target enthusiast.

He enjoyed “Cowboy Action Shooting” and was an avid participant since 2002. Half of the fun for him was dressing up as a 19th century circuit riding preacher with a few embellishments. He was a Life Member of SASS, the NRA, MCRGO and Sucker Creek Saddle and Gun Club, and best of all a Life Member of Heaven through the BLOOD of Jesus Christ.

Funeral Services for Vicar Dave will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Lee Ramsay Funeral Home-STANDISH CHAPEL, Standish, Michigan with Pastor John Tousciuk officiating. Interment will follow in Sterling Cemetery, Sterling, Michigan.

The family will greet family and friends Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 3:00 pm till 8:00 pm at the Lee Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel and from 9:00 am Monday till time of service at 11:00 am.
