Bruce Graff, 69, of Mio

Bruce N. Graff, age 69 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

Bruce was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 29, 1952 to Norman and Mary Lou (Haslip) Graff. The family moved to Lewiston, Michigan in 1970 and Bruce graduated from Johannesburg-Lewiston High School with the Class of 1971.

Having had a passion for Law Enforcement at a young age, he attended Lake Superior State College and earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Bruce worked for the Montmorency County Sheriff Department and switched to the Oscoda County Sheriff Department in 1976, retiring in 2004 as a Detective Sgt.

He and his wife Jackie built and operated the AuSable Valley Inn, opening its doors on May 5, 2000 until 2018. Bruce also owned the AuSable Angler from 2010-2018.

For the last few years, he worked for AuSable River Outfitters in Mio. Bruce enjoyed making maple syrup, fly fishing (especially with his grandchildren), bass fishing, surf fishing, wildlife photography, and building and fixing anything, including his own home. He will be remembered for his generosity and for lending a helping hand. Bruce was a wonderful Husband, a great Dad, and an adoring Grandfather.

Bruce is survived by his wife Jackie of Mio, MI; his mother Mary Lou (Robert) Gilbert of Lewiston, MI; his children: Stacey Karkutt of Mio, MI and Norm (Jody) Graff of Cadillac, MI; his sister Kathy (Craig) Marsh of Lewiston, MI; 4 grandchildren: Hailey, Talan, Lola, and Myles; his nephew Theodore (Samantha) Marsh; and his niece Randi (Christopher) Thiebaut. He was preceded in death by his father Norman C. Graff and his sister Mary Mydlarz.

Visitation on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1 – 4 and 6 – 9 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI.

Bruce will also lie in state on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 10 AM until the Celebration of Life Service at 11 AM at TriPoint Church of God, Mio, MI with Pastor James Young officiating.


In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the services.
