Charlie Sanford, 77, of McKinley

Charles Lester Sanford, age 77 of McKinley, Michigan, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

Charles was born in Goodrich, Michigan on June 6, 1944 to the late Donald and Elizabeth (Logan) Sanford. He graduated from Goodrich Schools with the Class of 1962.

Charlie served his country in the US Air Force from 1962 to 1966. After his service, he lived in Grand Blanc and Goodrich, Michigan. He retired as Captain from the City of Flint Fire Dept., served as Chief for City of Burton and McKinley Fire Departments, serving his communities for over 50 yrs. He ultimately retired in 2014.

Charlie enjoyed Politics and was active in his communities. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, gardening, watching sports, and most of all spending time with his friends and family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, brother, Jim, and sister, Betty Beers. Surviving are: two sons, Jeffrey (Becci), and Matthew (Kim); four grandchildren, Danine, Jake, Megan and Tyler. Siblings: Donna (Mike) Halaby, Bob (Emy), Tom (Brenda), sister-in-law Sally, brother-in-law Steve, and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were handled by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI.
