Richard Lynn Smith Jr., age 54, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at My Michigan Medical Center in Midland, MI. He lived in West Branch, MI for over 20 years formerly of Mt. Clemens, MI.
Rick was born on April 30, 1967 in Mt. Clemens to Richard and Tomasa (Gonzales) Smith Sr. He graduated from L’Anse Creuse High School in 1985 and worked at Mike’s Truck & Trailer in Mt. Clemens as a diesel mechanic, retiring after 17 years.
Rick was a member of the Moose Lodge in West Branch and former governor of the lodge. He was also a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, fishing, BBQ’s, golfing, anything camo, and gardening. Most of all he cherished every moment with his family. Rick volunteered at the school helping make popcorn for the kids. He had a big heart and was always helping others.
Rick is survived by his mother, Tomasa Smith of West Branch; sister, Julie Smith of Chesterfield, MI; daughters, Angelina (Ryan) Painter of Farwell, MI and Taylor (Ivan) Konjevod of Roseville, MI; grandchildren, Aubrey, Isabel, Nova; and many nieces and a nephew.
He is preceded in death by his father Richard in 2008 and brother Michael in 2013.
A memorial visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will held on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
