Mark Scott, 64, of Roscommon

Long-time business owner/operator of Scott’s Septic, Excavating, Mini Storage, and Construction, Mark N. Scott, 64, of Roscommon went to his eternal reward on December 10, 2021, at Munson Healthcare Hospital Cadillac with his daughter Mandy and wife Peggy praying by his side. Mark was born October 14, 1957, in Grosse Pointe, MI, to W.H. and Betty (Sottrel) Scott.

Always striving to do his best, Mark graduated from Standish-Sterling High School and Kirtland Community College. He has worked at the family business since his high school years and he continued to expand and diversify it to its current state. Mark was married to Peggy (Savage) Scott on July 10, 1982, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Roscommon. They often spoke of how God was responsible for so much of the joy in their marriage and family.

He was highly involved in his community as a member of the Knights of Columbus, supporter of OLLRCS, TEC retreat member, Boy Scout leader, and Michigan Septic Tank Association board member. Anyone who knew Mark was aware of his humor, faith in God, love of family, and propensity for mischief. At the same time, he was a compassionate, giving, and service-minded man of God. He loved hunting, fishing, making others laugh, his family, being spontaneous and generous, but most of all, his Catholic faith.

Preceding him in death were his younger brother, Danny, and his parents W.H. and Betty Scott.

Those left to carry on his traditions are his wife, Peggy Scott of Roscommon; daughters, Danielle (Zach) Gerdes of Roscommon, Mandy (Jim) Kramer of Houghton, and Shannon (Kyle) Johnson of Howell; son, Josh Scott and fiancé Diana Ori of Marine City/Sterling Heights; brother Chris (Margaret) Scott of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Finley, Ginny, Colum, Delaney, Miriam, Betty, Eli, Henry, and Simeon; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and trusted employees.

Visitation will be held at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Home Sunday, December 12 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 5:00 – 8:00 PM, and Monday, December 13 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a rosary prayed at 7:00 PM. The funeral mass will be at St. Michael Catholic Church in Roscommon on Tuesday, December 14 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:15 AM. For everybody’s safety, masks are required during the visitations and the funeral mass.

Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Catholic School in Prudenville, St. Michael Catholic Church of Roscommon, or the W.H. and Betty J. Scott Memorial Fund.

Those that do not wish to attend the service in person due to distance, the weather, or the pandemic, may watch the service streamed live at: https://www.facebook.com/wagnerandwalshfuneraldirectors
