Richard Harold “Dick” Tarrant, age 77, of Houghton Lake

Richard Harold “Dick” Tarrant, 77, of Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday November 8, 2020 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Dick was born on June 23, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to George and Naomi (Hillier) Tarrant. He grew up in the Montrose area where he graduated from high school and later attended college.  On June 8, 1963 in Montrose, Dick was married to Linda Kay Church.  Dick worked as a Fireman for Buick Division of General Motors and was the Otter Lake Fire Chief for several years.  He was a member of the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and the Houghton Lake Masonic Lodge.  Dick enjoyed ice fishing, but his special love was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving Mr. Tarrant are his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Kay Tarrant of Houghton Lake; daughter, Veralyn Rogers of ME;  two sons, William (Toni) Tarrant of Houghton Lake, and Richard H. (Angie) Tarrant Jr. of Millington; eight grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Jim) Schols of IL; two brothers, George (Betty) Tarrant of Montrose, and Jack (Irene) Tarrant of Saginaw; several nieces and nephews.  Dick was preceded in death by his father, George H Tarrant, Jr.; mother, Naomi M Tarrant; and brother, Billy Tarrant. 

Private Family Memorial Services for Richard Harold Tarrant will be conducted from Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. George Spencer officiating. Interment will be in the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church Memorial Garden.   Memorial contributions in memory of Dick are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society.
