David Archie Morley, 69, of Houghton Lake

David Archie Morley, 69, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Friday January 17, 2020 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.

David was born on September 30, 1950 in Frankenmuth, Michigan to Archie and Marian (Lanfear) Morley. David grew up in Frankenmuth and graduated from Frankenmuth High School.  He then got his Bachelor’s Degree from Saginaw Business Institute.   On October 17, 1980 in Saginaw David was married to Joan A. Sperry.  He worked as a Computer Programmer for Saginaw News and later Ann Arbor News from which he retired.  The Couple moved to Houghton Lake from Pinckney in 2006.  David was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Houghton Lake Moose Lodge, Houghton Lake Eagles, and Houghton-Higgins Elks Lodge.  He enjoyed deer hunting in his earlier years, and was an avid pool player.  His special passion was spending time with family, especially with his wife, Joan, and PaPa time with the grandchildren.

Surviving Mr. Morley are his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Joan A. Morley of Houghton Lake; son, Eric (Tracy) Morley of OH; daughter, Patricia Johnson of Wyoming, MI; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond (Nina) Morley of Brighton, Mark (Cindy) Morley of Cadillac, and Greg (Kelly) Morley of Saginaw; several nieces and nephews.  David was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Michael Morley. 

Memorial Services for David Archie Morley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 21, 2020 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Pastor Paul Kruse officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m.

Memorial contributions in memory of David are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. John Lutheran Church.
