Bruce Thomas Dawson, 82, of Houghton Lake

Bruce Thomas Dawson, 82, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday August 4, 2019 at home with his loving wife by his side.

Bruce was born on February 1, 1937 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Carlton and Edna (Wilson) Dawson. He grew up and attended school in the Detroit area.  Bruce was married on February 9, 1957 in Detroit to Nancy M. McMullen. He worked as a PBX Installer for Michigan Bell Telephone for many years. The couple moved to the Houghton Lake Area from Brighton over 27 years ago.  Bruce was a former active member of the Houghton Lake Eagles, Lions, and Moose, before his battle with Alzheimer’s. He enjoyed being a collector of miniature cars and trains.  His special passion was being with his family and being a wonderful father and grandfather.

Surviving Mr. Dawson are his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy M. Dawson of Houghton Lake; son, Ray (Erica) Dawson of Stockbridge; daughter, Elaine Dawson of Houghton Lake; daughter-in-law, Diana Dawson of Clarkston; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Richard Dawson of OH; several nieces and nephews.  Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; son, John D. Dawson; and two brothers, Theodore and Roger.

Celebration of Life Services for Bruce Thomas Dawson will be conducted at 1:00pm Saturday August 17, 2019 from the Houghton Lake Eagles Lodge, 101 Crestview Drive, Houghton Lake, Mi.  Memorial contributions in memory of Bruce are asked to be directed to Munson Hospice Grayling, 324 Meadows Dr, Grayling, MI 49738  Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
