Anna Margaret Craighton of Houghton Lake

Anna Margaret Craighton, 95, of Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday April 27. 2019 at The Brook of Houghton Lake.

Anna was born on November 10, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Nora (Maloney) Ringler. Anna grew up in New York and she attended school there. She met a Navy Sailor that she became fond of and was married on May 15, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to Ira C. Craighton. Anna and Ira moved to the Ferndale area where Ira worked at Chrysler Corporation for many years. The couple welcomed a son, John, into their family in 1949. Anna was a mother and homemaker for most of her life. The couple moved to the Houghton Lake area in 1981. Anna was a member of Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church and enjoyed visiting with family and friends, telling stories from her past in New York and Ferndale.

Surviving Mrs. Craighton are her sister-in-law, LaJeanne Craighton of Hazel Park; two nieces, Leah (George)Tesar of Madison Heights, and  Grace (Dan) Severn of Sanbury, PA; nephew, Thomas (Iva) Craighton of Casco; many friends from the community and the Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church.  Anna will join her loving husband, Ira C. Craighton, beloved son, John Clark Craighton; her parents John and Nora Ringler, two sisters, Catherine and Marie and brother, John. 

Memorial contributions in memory of Anna are asked to be directed to the Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
