Burdena Lorraine Straub

Burdena Lorraine Straub, 84, of Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday February 9, 2019 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Lorraine was born on April 5, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Eschol and Winnifred (Boustead) Sherman. She was a Foster Mother for many children and adopted three of her foster children.  Lorraine worked as a laborer for Rochester Drill Bits, owned her own Maid Service and later on she had a Daycare Service. Lorraine was married in August of 1978 in Oxford to Clyde C. Straub. The couple moved to California for 28 years because of Clyde’s work and then moved to Houghton Lake three years ago. Lorraine attended St. Hubert Catholic Church and attended the Houghton Lake Senior Center. She loved animals, especially feeding her backyard birds and squirrels.

Surviving Mrs. Straub are her loving husband of 46 years, Clyde Straub of Houghton Lake; two step sons, Scott (Ruth) Straub of Chesterfield, and Jason Straub of Warren; step daughter, Debbie Dennis of Chesterfield; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Burdena was preceded in death by her parents; sons, David Reamer and Edward Reamer; daughter, Lorraine Reamer; two sisters, Sylvia Sherman and Winifred Kassel and brother, Russell Sherman. 

Funeral Services for Burdena Lorraine Straub will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday February 14, 2019 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Fr. Bernard Tyler officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 14, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel. Memorial contributions in memory of Burdena are asked to be directed to the Houghton Lake Senior Center or St. Hubert Catholic Church.
