Suzan Marie Spanielewski of Houghton Lake

Suzan Marie Spanielewski, 64, of Houghton Lake, passed away July 5, 2017 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.

She was born on April 27, 1953 in Cheboygan to Jack and Helen (Walters) Chenette. She moved to the Houghton Lake area at a young age and graduated from Houghton Lake Community Schools in 1971.

Mrs. Spanielewski spent most of her life in the Houghton Lake area where she was a waitress for many years, employed by the Family Restaurant, Big Boy, and the Elks Lodge. She then became a Certified Nursing Assistant working at The Brook of Houghton Lake and King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

She was a member of Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women, and enjoyed sewing projects, scrap booking, flowers and gardening. She loved going on road trips, especially going to the casino with her mother, or thrift store adventuring.

Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Flick of Prudenville; son, Charles “Bucky” (Jamie O’Connor) Spanielewski of Clarkston; grandchildren, Dylan Palacios, and Madison Flick; and great-grandson, Connor Palacios.

Also surviving are her sister, Deborah Chenette of Houghton Lake; brother, Clant (Penny) Chenette of Houghton Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lynnetta Bierlein, and brother, Jack E. Chenette.

Visitation is July 12 from 5 p.m. until the memorial service at 6 p.m. from Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Lay Minister Sue Lazell officiating.

Memorial contributions in memory of Sue are asked to be directed to the family.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
