Floyd Ervin ‘JR’ Goddard, Jr. of Roscommon

Floyd Ervin “JR” Goddard, Jr., 53, passed away May 4, 2017 at his Roscommon home. He was a lifelong resident of the Grayling and Roscommon area.

He was born in Grayling May 22, 1963 to Floyd Ervin and Rose Jean (Eldridge) Goddard. He married Charlene ‘Char’ May Stead July 18, 1987 in Roscommon.

Mr. Goddard owned and operated Dependable Irrigation and Lawn Maintenance for more than 10 years. He also was employed in construction, including for Lee Crawl Construction in Detroit.

He was a past member of the Buick Riviera Club. He enjoyed cars, woodworking and dogs.

He served in the Michigan National Guard for two years.

Surviving are his daughters, Darci and Dakota Goddard of Roscommon; granddaughter, Aubree Goddard of Roscommon; mother, Rose Goddard of Grayling; and sisters, Linda Goddard of Grayling and Bonnie (Carl) Altman of Hawks.

Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Nancy (Robert) Wood of Farmington, Brenda St.Denis of Roscommon, Sheila Stead of Higgins Lake, Jennie Stead of Roscommon and Dar (Scott) Stead-Smith of Roscommon; brother-in-law, James Stead of Lady Lake, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Char; father, Floyd; and brother-in-law, Rick Stead.

Funeral services were conducted May 9 at Grayling Free Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Marshall officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Roscommon County Community Foundation, Char Goddard Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon is serving the family.
