Janie Gail Van Canneyt of Roscommon

Janie Gail Van Canneyt, 78 of Roscommon passed away May 8, 2017 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City.

She was born Oct. 11, 1938 in River Rouge to Orlin Emil and Dorothy Josephine (Louzon) Benn. She resided in Roscommon since 1994, coming from River Rouge.

Mrs. Canneyt was a homemaker. She attended St. Michael Catholic Church, Roscommon, and was a member of the River Rouge Polish American Club and the Rouge Days Committee. She loved her grandkids, reading, cowboy movies, especially John Wayne, and attending her grandkids events.

Surviving are three children, Gwen Duhon of St. Helena Island, SC, John (Paula) Van Canneyt of Lincoln Park and Carrie (Jim) Perialas of Roscommon; five grandchildren, Rick (Stefanie) Lyke of Dollar Bay, Michael Van Canneyt of Lincoln Park, Jordan (Tyler) Timmerman of Glendale, AZ, Casey Perialas of Grand Rapids and Bailey Perialas of Allendale; two great-grandchildren, Henry Lyke and Baby Timmerman on the way; brother, Ronald ‘Butch’ (Freda) Benn of Melvindale; and two sisters, Marlene Resst of Lincoln Park and Barbara (Jack) Wilkie of Grosse Isle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Keith Van Canneyt; sister, Sandra Smith and brother, Donald Benn.

Private services will be conducted at a later time.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon is serving the family.
