Dennis Bert Minto of Higgins Lake

Dennis Bert Minto, 67, of Higgins Lake, passed away May 14, 2017 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

He was born on September 26, 1949 in Houghton Lake to Bert and Fern (Lehman) Minto, and grew up in the Higgins Lake area, graduating from Roscommon High School. Following high school, Dennis went on to join the Army National Guard and received his Associates Degree.

He was employed as a building contractor for many years, holding a builder’ license and a real estate agent license. He was married on April 12, 1978 in Roscommon to Ruth Ann Cook.

Mr. Minto was a former member of AmVets and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years, Ruth Ann Minto of Higgins Lake; daughter, Jennifer Rowe of Grand Rapids; two step-daughters, Jo Ann Hoke of Houghton Lake, Billie Meacham of Houghton Lake; two step-sons, Paul Hoke of Houghton Lake, Bob (Patty) Hoke of Manton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Brian Minto of Higgins Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is May 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 May 20 from there with Rev. Bryan Thompson officiating.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dennis are asked to be directed to St. Jude Children Hospitals. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
