Joanne M. Rochon of Holt and Houghton Lake

Joanne M. (Saul-Nichols) Rochon, 79, of Holt and Houghton Lake, passed away January 22, 2016 at Holt with her loving family by her side.

She was born on December 21, 1937 in Lansing to William and Iola (Miller) Saul. She grew up in the Lansing area and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School. She was employed more than 26 years as a manager for Auto Owners Insurance Company.

She married Clarence Richard “Dick” Rocon July 9, 1983 at Houghton Lake where they lived most of their married years, except for a few years they spent in Texas.

Joanne spent the last three years back in the Lansing area so she could be close to family and special friends Bonnie, Mike and Suzie.

Mrs. Rochon was an active member of the Houghton Lake Eagles, where she served in many offices, including being a past president of the Lady Eagles. She was a member of the Houghton Lake Moose Lodge and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her sister, Beatrice Perrin-Beaulieu of Holt; two step-daughters, Debra Dowland of Houghton Lake, and Teresa Rochon-Havran of Cleveland, Ohio; step-son, Richard Rochon of Missouri; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Penni (Vaughn) Vandecar of Mason; and her special puppy, Toby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Clarence Richard “Dick” Rochon.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at the Houghton Lake Eagles Hall, 101 Crestview Drive, Houghton Lake at a later date. Interment will be in Roscommon Twp. Cemetery, Houghton Lake.

Memorial contributions in memory of Joanne are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
