Alice ‘Lynn’ M. Sohn

Alice “Lynn” M. Sohn, 90, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

Lynn was born on February 28, 1926 in Mwava, Poland to Stanley and Kathryn (Drazgowska) Gralewicz. She moved to Detroit with her family at the age of 3. Lynn was married in Detroit in 1945 to Robert Quirk whom passed away in 1963. The couple had moved to Houghton Lake from Detroit in 1955. She was married on April 24, 1965 in Houghton Lake to Robert Joseph Sohn, whom passed away in 2015.

Lynn was a business owner for many years around the Houghton Lake area. She had owned the Half Way House Restaurant between Houghton Lake and Roscommon, the Heights Marina, Funland, and presently owned and operated Sohn Supply. Lynn was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, and Houghton Lake Elks, plus many other organizations. She was on the COOR Intermediate School Board for over 24 years, and was a legal guardian for many people over the years.

Surviving Mrs. Sohn are her daughter, Linda Hodgdon of Troy; two sons, John (Sue) Quirk of Houghton Lake, and Tom (Debbie) Sohn of Houghton Lake; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert Quirk; second husband, Robert Joseph Sohn; and two sisters, Zenia Ptaszek, and Helen Wasztyl.

Mass of Christian Burial for Alice “Lynn” M. Sohn will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday January 4, 2017 from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Rolando Silva officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.

Memorial contributions in memory of Lynn are asked to be directed to Our Lady of the Lake.
