Robert Charles Chambers of Houghton Lake

Robert Charles Chambers, 77, of Houghton Lake, passed away Nov. 22, 2016 at his home.

Robert was born in Lincoln, Maine on Aug. 13, 1939 to Charles A. and Mildred (Cimpher) Chambers. He married June M. Dafoe in Roscommon on July 31, 1969.

Charles resided at Houghton Lake for 20 years coming from Grayling.

Charles was a former mechanic at McEvers Buick in Grayling. He was a member of Pathway Baptist Church, Houghton Lake.

He enjoyed wood crafting, deer hunting and the outdoors.

Charles served in the US Army from Dec. 1958 to March 1962.

Surviving are his wife, June; three daughters, Kim Bunyak of Roscommon, Pat (Ron) Larson of Grayling and Peggy (Tony) Colvin of Houghton Lake; five grandchildren, Chuck (Kristy) Holdorph, Jennifer and Michael (Janette) Colvin, Zak and Josh Larson; four great-grandchildren, Sulli and Bella Holdorph and Ashley and Mya Colvin; three sisters, Deanna Leopard of FL, Donna (Bob) Gibbs of FL and Gloria (Tom) Matthews of Ohio; nephew like a brother, Arthur ‘Junebug’ (Vanda) Bortell of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Chambers; and a son-in-law, David Bunyak.

Funeral services were at Crestview Cemetery, Markey Township, Nov. 23 with Pastor Jeff Tuttle officiating. Burial was at Crestview Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the family for a charity to be determined.

Arrangements were by Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon.
