Lawrence R. Pond of Roscommon

Lawrence R. Pond, 77, of Roscommon passed away Nov. 17, 2016 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Mr. Pond was born in Berkley on Feb. 21, 1939 to George Richard and Doris Louise (Shepard) Pond.

He married Suzanne M. Millard April 4, 1964 in Berkley.

He resided in Madison Heights until 1974 moving to Troy until moving to Roscommon in 1998.

Mr. Pond was employed for 32 years in auto parts manufacturing including Creative Industries in Auburn Hills.

He liked to putter and tinker with mechanical things. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, playing cards and coaching his daughters’ soccer teams.

Surviving are his wife, Suzanne; four children, Lorri Martin of Madison Heights, Vicci MacFarlan of Lexington, KY, Denise Pond of Warren and Steve Pond of New York City, NY; four grandchildren, Jakob and Alyson Martin of Madison Heights and Christopher and Katherine MacFarlan of Lexington, KY; sister, Laura (Richard) Nelson of Plymouth and sister-in-law, Lynne Slatinsky of Roscommon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Swan; grandson, Hunter Martin and father-in-law, Clarence Millard.

A funeral was at Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon with Fr. Bernard Tyler officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley.

Memorial donations may be made to the family for a charity to be determined.
