Keep warm this fall!

Senior news

Hello November and happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all had a chance to spend some time outside and enjoy the fall weather and sights. Just another reminder about checking on your furnace or heat souse, along with checking that your windows will keep the heat in. These are important things to ensure you are safe and warm this winter. You should keep emergency items on hand such as bottled water, shelf food, extra blankets, flashlights, and batteries. Bad weather sneaks up on us sometimes and it will be easier for us if we are somewhat prepared for it.

November is the time to change the clocks again. On Sun., Nov. 5, before going to bed, set your clocks back 1 hour so you will be all set at the right time when you get up the next morning.

The food drops happening this month are the Together We Can Food Pantry on Thurs., Nov. 8 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Keep in mind, if they run out of food they will be gone early. They ask that you bring ID to show you live in the county and a banana box if you have one. The Golden Grocery Giveaway (senior cheese box) will be on Tues., Nov. 14 from 10 – 11 a.m. Both food drops happen at the fairgrounds.

The council’s monthly board meeting will be on Mon., Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

The Senior Center will be closed on Wed., Nov 15. Happy hunting to all the hunters out there!

The Senior Center will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving.

The exercise class will be stepping it up a bit for a few weeks. Starting with the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, for three weeks they will be having class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be classes on Nov. 28 and 30., as well as Dec. 5, 7, 12, 14, and 19. There will not be class on Dec. 21. There is breakfast the morning of Dec. 21 from 8- 9 a.m. and the center will be closing early for our employee Christmas party.

The Beaver moon for November will be beautifully shining on Nov. 27. I hope you get to see it!

There is always at least one thing to be grateful for daily. Have a thankful month and keep smiling!
