MCKINLEY – The McKinley Civic Association (MCA) is offering a $200-250 scholarship to one senior from both the Mio and Fairview Schools. The award is based on a one-page essay in which the student describes his or her short-term or long-term career goals.
According to Association Leader Tim Ferguson, “It’s enough for gas to get out of the county.”
The amount is made up of the dues of all the members of the association, and supplemented by a portion of the general fund, which is supported by the local transfer station.
Interested seniors should submit their essays to their school guidance counselors, who will then transfer them to the MCA board for judging and awards.
Check with guidance counselors for deadlines, but judging usually takes place in January or February.
