REGION – With the recent SAGECare training that the staff of 211 Northeast Michigan has completed, resource advocates are now better equipped to serve the population of LGBT older adults. Through this training staff have learned how to be more sensitive to the issues and hardships that effect LGBT older adults. This will allow 211 to deliver even more tailored referrals to the communities that we serve.
SAGECare is a division of SAGE, the country’s oldest and largest non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT older adults. SAGECare provides LGBT competency training and consulting on LGBT aging issues to service providers.
The staff of 211 Northeast Michigan are devoted to working with the organizations in the community to provide resources and services to individuals and families in need. The 24-hour information and referral line is available to anyone and everyone seeking help or information. The staff are also trained to help those in a crisis or disaster by locating relevant information and services.
Together 211 Northeast Michigan and SAGECare will continue their partnership to serve all individuals with the best care possible.
