GRAYLING – 14 volunteers showed up to the Community Garden Friends Workday in Grayling Saturday, June 2. They really made major progress in moving this community garden to reality. Volunteers helped clean up the garden and move the well/irrigation project forward. The results were:
- 14 fence posts replaced
- 8 bags of trash removed along with some other big pieces of junk. Cleaned up 4 large areas where debris had been piled up.
- 25 pallets removed and a big stack of old lumber.
- Started to line the garden fence with chicken wire.
- Flower beds weeded and flower seeds planted.
- 1 large tree taken down and 12 little trees removed. Other trees pruned.
- 400 feet of ditch dug. A good start was made to lay sprinkler pipe.
They are looking forward to the electric being put in and the completion of the sprinkler system. To continue with their progress and success however, more volunteers are needed to keep moving forward. They are almost there!
