Crawford County Relay for Life surpasses goal

GRAYLING – Crawford County painted its world purple July 9 during its annual American caCncer Society Relay for Life event.

For the second year in a row, the event was hosted at the Grayling City Park in downtown Grayling. Fourteen teams registered for the event, with more than 100 participants striving to reach the goal of $30,000 for cancer research.

Thanks to the community, sponsors, volunteers, and all of the participants, the goal was surpassed by more than $2,500 with a 100 percent participation from all of the teams.

The icing on the cake, however, was Crawford County won the 2016 Relay for Life Pacesetter award for meeting its fund-raising goal, making the community to be proud.

The day included themed laps to walk/run/jog such as Crazy Hat Lap, Duck Dynasty Beard Lap, Prom/Tuxedo Lap, Ugly Christmas Sweater in July Lap, a Star Wars Lap and more. Along with the themed laps there were several activities throughout the day including versions of Lip Sync Battle and Fear Factor.
