Woman charged with possession of child sexually abusive material

SOUTH BOARDMAN — The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force announced the arrest of Elizabeth Emily Gerring, 21, of South Boardman, on charges of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.

According to an MSP statement, the arrest followed an investigation in which digital evidence was seized. Investigators determined Gerring had viewed child sexually abusive files online.

Gerring faces four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and four counts of using a computer to commit a crime. She was arraigned Monday, Aug. 18, in 87-B Judicial District Court.

The ICAC Task Force was assisted by the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office.

MSP encourages parents to talk with their children about safe internet use. Resources for online safety are available through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at missingkids.org and the Michigan ICAC Task Force at michiganicac.com.
