ZILWAUKEE – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $2.9 million in preventive maintenance on the Zilwaukee Bridge in Saginaw County. The project will include expansion joint repairs, deck patching, and resealing to enhance the bridge’s longevity and safety.
Project Timeline & Impact
• Start Date: Monday, April 14, 2025
• Stage 1 Completion: Friday, June 27, 2025
• Overall Project Completion: November 2025
• Job Impact: The project is expected to support 28 jobs, both directly and indirectly.
Traffic Restrictions
To ensure a safe work zone, southbound I-75 and the Zilwaukee Bridge will be closed from Kochville Road to Wadsworth Road, with traffic detoured.
Key detours:
• Southbound I-75 Closure: Traffic will be rerouted via southbound I-675 from Kochville Road to the I-75/I-675 interchange south of Wadsworth Road.
• Ramp Closures:
• The southbound I-75 ramp to Adams Street and the Adams Street ramp to southbound I-75 will be closed. Detour: Southbound I-675 to Tittabawassee Road (Exit 6) to Adams Street.
• The northbound I-675 ramp to southbound I-75 will be closed. Detour: Northbound I-75 to M-84 (Exit 160), then southbound I-75 to southbound I-675.
• Stage 2 (Northbound Work): Begins July 14, 2025. MDOT will provide detour details before work begins.
