RAPID CITY – Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post
responded to a residence in Rapid City for a reported shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of April 19.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an argument ensued between the alleged suspect, 29-year-old Kyle Cronin of Rapid City and a friend of the homeowner.
After Cronin was asked to leave the residence, he began driving erratically and ultimately attempted to shoot the victim with a rifle from the passenger window of his vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The victim sustained minor injuries to
his face as a result of the gun being fired.
Cronin was arrested by members of the MSP Fugitive team on May 20, 2024 and lodged at the Kalkaska County Jail.
Cronin was arraigned in the 87-B District Court on the listed charges: one count of Assault with Intent to Murder; one count of Weapons/Firearms Possessed by a Prohibited Person; one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; one count of Felony Firearm; and one count of Possession of a Loaded Firearm in a
Motor Vehicle. Bond was set at $250,000 cash surety.
Cronin’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 10 at 1:30 p.m.
