Michigan Works! announces free CDL-A training

REGION– Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium announced they’re offering free Truck Driving School to help individuals obtain their CDL-A and start a career as a commercial driver in Northeast Michigan.

Those looking to get into a truck driving career, as well as those looking to enhance their skillset in their current job, are encouraged to apply. Truck driving school short-term training programs usually run three to four weeks.

CDL drivers are in high-demand in our region. You can obtain your credential within a few weeks, leading you to a great new career with lots of growth potential. The average hourly wage in the Northeast region for a CDL driver is $39/hr.

Upon completion of the program, Michigan Works! will connect graduates with employers in the area.

Michigan Works! is offering free Commercial Drivers License, or CDL training with any approved Truck Driving School. You must start your classes by June 30, 2024.

To be eligible for this unique training opportunity, individuals must:

•     Be 18 years or older

•     Have earned a High School Diploma or GED

•     Have a Social Security card

•     Have a driver’s license or State ID
