Hale schools add deputy to district

HALE – Hale Area School Superintendent Jeffrey York announced the Iosco County Sheriff Department is assigning a resource officer to the district

“There have been many hours spent behind the scenes to find the right person to make this happen. We feel that adding the presence of a SRO will do big things for our students and community.

Objectives of this agreement include initiating friendly contact between officers and our youth; assistance and information sharing concerning problems impacting schools and students; education of children in the role of laws, courts, and police in society; protection and education of children in areas such as involvement with older law violators and harmful influences; and prevention of delinquent behaviors by juveniles that might impact school.

In mid to late February, we will begin our partnership formally. You will see an Iosco Sheriff Deputy car on campus, so don’t be alarmed- that is the car of our (school resource officer).

Again, we are excited about the benefits of this arrangement with our Sheriff’s Office so we can provide this needed service.
