REGION – Disability Network Mid-Michigan (DNMM) is hosting a free community event on Wed., July 26, from 4-7 p.m. at Heritage Park in Frankenmuth. This event celebrates the 33rd anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The event features food trucks and snack vendors, games, live music by Stone Street Revival and accessible recreation. Additionally, several community organizations will have vendor booths providing information about the services they provide. Throughout the park, attendees will notice multiple signs and banners detailing the history of the ADA, and descriptions of how its passage has affected the lives of persons with disabilities.
The event is free of charge and open to the public. The first 400 attendees will receive free food vouchers that can be used at any of the food vendor locations.
“Disability Network Mid-Michigan is committed to creating accessible and inclusive communities where all people with disabilities can live, work, and play,” said Kelly PeLong, Executive Director of DNMM. “We look forward to joining everyone in celebrating, learning, and sharing how we can keep the needle moving so people with disabilities can live the lives they choose.”
This event is made possible with support from Personal Assistance Options, a person-driven non-profit organization whose confidential services enable individuals to remain in their homes, no matter the level of care needed. Their services are tailored to everyone to help them meet their daily life needs.
A federally funded Center for Independent Living, DNMM provides an array of services to people of all ages, with many types of disabilities. DNMM is dedicated to creating accessible and inclusive communities and to promoting independence for all people with disabilities.
