Three Roscommon County people killed in head-on crash

ROSCOMMON COUNTY – On Friday, April 21, 2023, at approximately 10:10 a.m. troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post responded to a two-vehicle crash on Roscommon Road near E. Robinson Lake Road in Higgins Township.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 2015 BMW driven by 36-year-old Ben William Coffin from Prudenville was traveling northbound on Roscommon Road. Coffin veered into the southbound lane and then continued into the shoulder of the southbound lane for some time. Coffin re-entered the southbound lane of travel and struck a 2018 Kia occupied by 73-year-old John Franklin Leline and his wife, 73-yearold Regina Marie Leline, from Roscommon.

John and Regina Leline were pronounced dead at the
scene. Coffin was transported to Grayling Mercy Hospital where he died a short time later.

The crash remains under investigation.
