Camp Grayling range schedule

GRAYLING – Camp Grayling has four major range complex areas: South Camp (small arms ranges), Range 13 Complex (mortars & demolition range), Range 30 Complex (multi-purpose tank range), and Range 40 Complex (artillery and air-to-ground range).

Range activity this week consists of Michigan State Police, Kirtland Community College
(KCC) Law Enforcement Academy, Army Futures Command, and Air Force A-10’s.
The Range 40 Complex is active with A-10’s performing aerial gunnery and light bombing
Monday through Wednesday for day missions. Night missions occur Thursday, and
Saturday evenings, April 28 and 30. Range 40 exterior fence and gates remain closed
at all times to civilian traffic.

All roads and trails east of the Range 30 Complex are open to civilian traffic. South
Camp ranges are active from dawn until dusk. Expect to hear small arms firing. Further
clarification about gate closures is available through Camp Grayling Range Control at
989-344-6156.

Military activity is quiet on Sunday allowing researchers from Purdue University to
conduct herptile research. Herpetologists are specialized biologists or zoologists that
provide care and conduct research on a wide variety of reptilian and amphibian species.
