Scammers impersonating State Police

SCAMMERS CONTINUE TO IMPERSONATE STATE POLICE

WEXFORD COUNTY – The Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post received two phone calls today from citizens in the Grand Rapids area.  The citizens said they received a phone call from scammer spoofing the MSP Cadillac Post’s telephone number.  The scammers are claiming to be with the MSP and requesting personal information to verify the persons are victims of identity theft in another state.  This is a scam.  The MSP will never call you and ask for personal information over the phone.  If you receive a call from someone claiming to be with the MSP and they ask for personal information hang up immediately and contact the MSP Post nearest you.

The Michigan State Police also want to remind everyone neither the state police nor any other government agency will ever call or contact you and demand you send them money.  It is a scam.
