HOUGHTON LAKE – The Michigan State Police Houghton Lake Post is investigating a multiple vehicle personal injury traffic crash involving five vehicles that occurred on September 4, 2019 at approximately 5:15pm in Roscommon Township, Roscommon County.
The investigation shows that a 70-year-old Merritt man attempted to change lanes on west bound M-55 near S. Loxley Road and didn’t observe a vehicle traveling beside him in the right lane of west bound M-55 and struck it. The vehicle that was struck was thrown into a vehicle turning left into Chemical Bank. After both of these vehicles collided, they rolled into a semi-tractor and trailer that was traveling east bound on M-55.
When the semi-tractor and trailer was struck, a wheel was knocked off the semi-trailer and become air born. The wheel and tire rolled east bound down M-55 and struck a parked vehicle in the Save-A-Lot parking lot located at S. Loxley Road and M-55.
There were numerous minor injuries reported, and one subject was transported to Grayling Munson Hospital. The traffic crash remains under investigation.
