HOUGHTON LAKE – Troopers from the Michigan State Police Post in Houghton Lake are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred this morning, September 19, 2019 at approximately 5:55am. The crash occurred on Old 27 just south of S. Dead Stream Road in Roscommon Township, Roscommon County.
Preliminary information shows that the lone vehicle involved was occupied by a father and son who were on their way to work in Houghton Lake from their residence in Harrison. The vehicle left the roadway, struck trees, rolled over, and landed on its roof.
Rex Gidding, age 55 ,of Harrison was killed as the result of the crash. His 23-year-old son, Austin Casey of Harrison was airlifted to Traverse City Munson Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
The traffic crash remains under investigation.
