Doris Elaine Brotherton, 85, of Higgins Lake passed away on Monday April 1, 2019 at home with her loving family.
Doris was born on November 23, 1933 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Emil and Zella (Allison) Rosander. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Michigan State University. On July 28, 1956 in Clio, Doris was married to Paul Brotherton. The couple both were teachers at Flint Beecher Schools retiring in 1991. Doris taught Kindergarten at Flint Beecher for 41years. Following their retirement Doris and Paul moved to the Higgins Lake Area. Doris was a member of Eastern Star, National Education Association, Michigan Education Association and Epsilon Sigma Alpha.
Surviving Mrs. Brotherton are her daughter, Bethany Crawford of St. Helen; son, James Brotherton of Higgins Lake; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Paul Brotherton.
Family graveside services for Doris Elaine Brotherton will be conducted in the spring at Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Doris are asked to be directed to Markey Church. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
