‘The Daily Grind’ opens in Mio

MIO – A new business opened in Mio, The Daily Grind, a coffee shop and more.

Owners Eric and Becky Socia have wanted to open a restaurant for some time. But not the traditional restaurant, they wanted to do something a bit different and help fill a much needed niche in the area. They did a couple of years of planning and deciding what they wanted the business to do and when the opportunity presented itself they decided to go for it.

While keeping the feel of a coffee house with the free Wi-Fi and charging stations at select tables, there is also a comfortable feeling more prone to a traditional restaurant.

If you have the time to sit in the mornings then the television is on with the news. They serve oatmeal and breakfast sandwich options as well, as well as a variety of drinks – coffee, lattes, espresso, teas, hot cocoa and soft drinks. Each of these would pair nicely with the fresh doughnuts or muffins. Call the bakery a day ahead if you are wanting a large order of doughnuts.

Looking over the Lunch menu you see that they serve soups, salads and sandwiches. The menu has a nice variety and includes some items you really would not expect but will appreciate when ordering. One example is a hard boiled egg, yes its common but I do not see it offered very often. However they do go nicely with your salad.

Soups are made fresh each morning with chili and vegetable beef the standards, there is also a daily soup made for those wanting something different. When they are gone then that is it until the next day.

A very nice feature they added is a drive thru window. So if you are in a hurry then maybe call in your order and pick it up as you pass by.

Becky said that the restaurant is available for use after hours for meeting and group events so just give her a call and make the arrangements when they are needed.

They are open Monday through Saturdays, from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m. Located at 512 S. Morenci Ave in Mio, they can be reached at 989-826-9329.
