Over $27M in Training Funds Available to Michigan Employers; Application Deadline Approaches

The popular Michigan employee training fund, previously known as the Skilled Trades Training Fund, has gotten a new name this year but will still be offering over $27 million in training funds that employers can use to train their workforce. The newly named ‘Going PRO Talent Fund’ makes awards to employers to assist in training, developing and retaining current and newly hired employees. Training funded by the Talent Fund must be short-term and fill a demonstrated talent need experienced by the employer. Training must lead to a credential for a skill that is transferable and recognized by industry.

Since the program’s inception, Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium has helped secure over $1.1 million in funding for 40 different employers in its 8-county region, which allowed for over 1,000 workers to receive training.
