MIO– A new director at the Oscoda County Council on Aging (OCCOA) was voted by the council’s board in April. Current director Sue Barker will be retiring in July after 6 years of service and Mandy Wysocki will be stepping into the role of director.
Wysocki has worked at OCCOA for the past 10 years starting as an in-house coordinator and later becoming administrative assistant. She finds her work rewarding and enjoys helping seniors find solutions to common problems they might face during retirement and the aging process.
Many essential services are offered to senior citizens at OCCOA including in home personal care and homemaking, respite care, meals on wheels, and a food pantry. On Tuesdays and Thursdays an exercise class is offered from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and a hot lunch is served daily with a $7 suggested donation and $4 for seniors 60 and over.
The OCCOA is located 429 N. Mt. Tom Rd. in Mio. You can reach the front desk at 989-826-3025 or email at [email protected].
