McGregor plays point guard for the Mio Thunderbolts and during the 2025/26 season she shattered over 20 Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) records. She became the first Michigan high school player to score more than 1,000 points in a single season, and finished with 1,071 total points across 25 games- averaging a remarkable 42.8 points per game. Some other record breakers include: most points scored in a quarter, most assists in a quarter, most free throws thrown in a game, most 3 pointers made in a season, and 10 games where she scored 45 points.
Through her hard work and dedication, she also achieved the Detroit Free Press Division 4 player of the year award 3 years in a row. From freshman to junior year, McGregor has scored 2,678 points putting her 2nd for most points scored in a career. She looks forward to also breaking that record her senior year.
McGregor has been playing basketball since she was three and said the passion for the game runs through her blood. Her father, Ty McGregor and played professional basketball for the Værløse Blue Hawks in Denmark, her mother Kristi McGregor played for Grand Valley and Spring Arbor University, and her younger brother also plays for the Thunderbolts.
In addition to her incredible athleticism, Mia holds a GPA of 4.081 and plans on studying aerospace engineering with intentions of working for NASA. Several universities around the country have presented her with scholarship offers, but she hasn’t made an official decision.
Mia proves that even at a young age persistence and passion can lead to profound success.
