OSCODA COUNTY- Love in the Name of Christ (Love INC) of Oscoda County is currently seeking participants for their Love Walk in conjunction with their 6th Annual AuSable River Valley Triathlon on June 10. Registration may be completed in advance or at check-in at Boney Park in Fairview beginning at 8:30 a.m. Walkers of all ages are welcome: this is a great family activity as well as an opportunity for “just older youth” seniors. The Love Walk registration fee is by donation.
The Walk begins at 9:00am at the ball field area of Boney Park and progresses south on Maple Drive, past the duplexes onto a 1.5-mile marked trail (see attached map.). Triathlete runners will be accessing the trail at around 10-10:15 a.m. and will run the trail twice for 3 miles. Love Walk participants may walk the 1.5-mile loop once or longer but should aim to be finished by 10:00.
Love Walk participants will receive the same “goody bag” as our Triathletes and may join everyone for a free lunch in the Pavilion at Boney Park starting around 11:30. The Walk is not competition but for personal enjoyment and participation in this Love INC “FUNdraiser.”
Love in the Name of Christ mobilizes churches in Oscoda County to meet needs and transform lives and our communities. While Love INC is the “first response, front-line” for neighbors in need, most of their ministry is simply connecting neighbors to those ministries and agencies that can best meet those needs.
